This Is Me Acrostics 2023

A fantastic way to get children engaged with poetry as they write all about themselves.
It's important for children to focus on and celebrate themselves, and This Is Me Acrostics allows them to do exactly that as they think about what makes them unique and the things they love. The acrostic is a brilliant way to introduce poetry writing as it gives your little learners a structure to work to, giving them the confidence to get creative with their words.
It's free to enter and we also provide you with all the resources you'll need to get your class involved, including a ready-made lesson plan and PowerPoint. There's also a video, which gives your pupils ideas to write about and guides them step-by-step to create an acrostic poem.
All entrants will receive a bookmark, and those chosen for publication will receive a certificate of merit. Seeing their work in print gives pupils a purpose for their writing, which helps to boost engagement and creates confident writers.

The school prize is a magnificent poetry book bundle which includes a copy of each book in the photo. This Is Me Acrostics is ideal for 4-7 year-olds, but pupils outside this age range are welcome to enter.

The school that submits the best overall set of entries will win The Young Writers' Award of Excellence and a huge poetry book bundle.

(Remember, you receive 1 free copy for every 30 entries you submit! E.g. 1-30 entries you receive 1 copy, 31-60 entries you receive 2 copies, etc.)

Every entrant receives a bookmark and sticker. We award a certificate of merit to all young writers chosen for publication.
