On Thursday 26th November we sent Mark Grist to Gunthorpe Primary School for a morning of workshops and on Friday 27th November, Mark hosted workshops at Hampton Vale Primary School as part of Young Writers' community projects.
Mark worked with Key Stage 2 pupils at both schools; pupils learned how to create original ideas and then went on to write their own poems / raps.
With a new term opening, we sent poet Mark Grist to Jack Hunt School on the 13th October to spend a morning inspiring students as part of the school's 'Aim Higher' incentive.
Both Mark and the students had a fun and very productive...
In May Mark Grist visited pupils at Stanground Academy - the school had won a visit from Mark at Teachmeet earlier in the year. (Please see the separate post about Teachmeet!)
Mandy Barfoot, Head of English, asked for a workshop that would inspire pupils to get writing poetry, so Mark spent the morning turning uninterested teens into budding bards!

On Thursday 5th March 2015, World Book Day, we sent Mark Grist off to Watergall Primary School in Bretton, Peterborough to host workshops for the morning.
Mark worked with 2 Year 4 classes during his workshop and the children wrote raps about books. What a great way to celebrate and be inspired by World Book Day! The children had fantastic costumes, which added to the energy and enthusiasm...

On Wednesday 14th January, we hosted our first sponsored poetry workshop in our local community. This means that Young Writers paid for a local poet to visit a local school for a morning to work with classes and get pupils motivated and enthused to write poetry. We’re delighted to say our first workshop was a huge success!
