Here at Young Writers we love to spark inspiration, get ideas flowing and offer up loads of hints and tips about poetry techniques, story ideas and improving your writing, and you probably know we do this in the way we know best – words on paper (or screen) to be downloaded or printed. But you may not be aware that we also have loads of excellent video resources too, which can all be found on our YouTube channel.
There’s a wide range of content, including loads of interviews with people from all walks of creative writing life, including mega superstar authors like Derek Landy, to inspirational young people like Chloemejustme.
Check it out to see if your favourite author is featured, and if not, let us know who we should interview next!
You will also find videos introducing our latest poetry and creative writing competitions, like this one for ‘A Wander In The Woods’.
Even if the competitions are closed, these videos contain loads of ideas and inspiration, so you can use them to help you come up with your next masterpiece. Look out for some new ones in September when our latest poetry competitions will be announced!
And there’s still so much more including writing hints and tips, some from poet and educator (and our independent judge) Mark Grist and my personal favourite, videos of poems written and performed by young writers who have been picked as finalists in some of our previous competitions.
The variety of ideas and creative writing skill on display in these pieces is not only something to be admired, but also shows that poetry doesn’t have to be confined to the page! Watch and let them inspire you to take your poems to the next level.

So head on over to our YouTube channel and see what there is on offer. And most importantly, don’t forget to like and subscribe!
