My Daddies! An interview with Gareth Peter and Garry Parsons

Making history with their new book, Gareth Peter and Garry Parsons share their stories about why they took part in creating “My Daddies”

The book will be the first UK picture book to be written and illustrated by same-sex parents.

The idea first came about when author Gareth Peter noticed a lack of books he shared with his children representing their family situation. His goal then became clear, he wanted to make a book filled with love that would make children across the country feel included.

You may recognise the work of Garry Parsons from the “The Dinosaur That Pooped” series, this time the experienced illustrator decided to tackle something closer to home.

“This book really is a dream come true for me. I’m not drawing poop or dinosaurs, I’m drawing something that’s part of my life and close to my heart”, Parsons said.

The book is both heartwarming and loving, showcasing the genuine love poured into its creation.
