Poetry Competitions for Schools

coils

Young Writers' Sense Poetry competition is now open!

This competition has been carefully tailored to complement Key Stage 1 learning objectives. It allows children to identify and discuss words that describe what we see, hear, feel, smell and taste.

It encourages creative writing, use of sentence structure and a wider use of vocabulary in relation to their sensory responses.

Deadline: 31st May 2012

It's easy to take part...

  • Use the downloadable lesson plan to help your class understand and create a sense poem

  • Example sense poems are available to print, these can be handed out to the class for inspiration.

  • Once each pupil has their subject they can begin to create their poem (each pupil must complete their poem on the pupil entry form)

  • Send a completed school entry form along with your pupils' poems to the freepost address

Benefits of the competition...
