Mini Sagas - New Adventures -Deadline: 30th March 2012

This competition is a great classroom activity for pupils, it gives them a chance to be part of a creative writing experience; from writing their mini saga to the chance of seeing their work in print. I am sure your pupils will find it inspiring and fun.

My First Story (KS1) - Deadline: 30th March 2012

This competition has been developed to help broaden your pupils' writing skills, whilst being inspiring and fun. Seeing their work in print has been proven to help boost children's confidence in creative writing.

Sense Poetry (KS1) - Extended deadline: 16th March 2012

This competition has been carefully tailored to complement Key Stage 1 learning objectives. It allows children to identify and discuss words that describe what we see, hear, feel, smell and taste. It encourages creative writing, use of sentence structure and a wider use of vocabulary in relation to their sensory responses.


Travel Back in Rhyme - Extended deadline: 16th March 2012

The educational poetry competition combining literacy and history. Travel Back in Rhyme is the new poetry competition from Young Writers for 2011-2012. We are inviting teachers to send in poems by pupils aged 7-11 to be considered for publication in regional anthologies. The editorial team will select poems on the basis of imagination, expression, interpretation of poetry, use of language and description.
