Young Poet Announced in Local Newspaper!

Four-year-old Ella Foster has been announced as one of Mansfield's youngest poets.

Ella attends Whizzkids Playgoup in Nottingham where the nursery leaders have encouraged her and other children from the nursery to use their young imaginations and create a poem about their favourite day out using the templates provided. Templates are used to give 'first example of poetry and writing a creative piece'.

Ella chose to write a poem about a day out with her mum and friends, with details of where she went, what she did and what she ate during the adventure. Ella's poem and 6 other children's from the same nursery featured in My Day At - Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The anthology is due to be published on 31st August.

Ella's mum, Lisha Foster said "I felt so proud and happy, a bit overwhelmed. Ella had never entered something like that before. Ella was shocked at first, then excited she won a medal."

Lisha hopes her daughter's achievement will encourage other parents and carers to get their young children involved in writing as it is so important in their development.
