Millie Ramm's Blog
Blog 1
Hey... this is my blog, my names Millie and I will be writing a blog every month. My blogs will be about moving up from year 6 into year 7. So, here goes:
I thought I would talk about what happened in the last few weeks of primary school. We had a ‘Primary Day’ - when you go to your new secondary school for a day to see what it is like. We did PE; English; Maths; IT; Science. In PE we did Badminton, which was a taster session, and most of us enjoyed it! In English we wrote a descriptive paragraph, which was relaxing. Maths, we had to break a code. IT, Powerpoint presentations on the Olympics. In Science, we looked at pollen.
We also got to watch the year 7’s (now year 8's) do a dance production. This seemed fun, especially when we have to do it for the year 6’s coming up next year! The Primary Day was really helpful because that was when I stopped being as worried and scared!
As long as you have friends, and teachers that you know you can talk to, you’ll survive in secondary school . . . Promise! Just remember to look after yourself, and that you have responsibilities! That’s what we got told anyway!
Am I scared or worried? No, well not as much as I was anyway. I used to think that Secondary school was HUGE and TERRIFYING! But, talk to people about it, like at the Primary Day, and it doesn’t seem all that bad . . .
Am I excited? Yes, very. I can’t wait until I step foot in the school as an official year 7. I mean, it’s all good saying ‘Oh yeah, I’m going into year 7!’ but not as cool as saying ‘Oh yeah I’m IN year 7!’ I was literally counting down the days until I left Primary school. I was sad on my last day but happy as well. Sad I had to leave, but happy about where I was going.
We’ve all heard the saying: With great power comes great responsibility. Well, it is a bit like that, I think. Only it would be, with great opportunities comes great responsibility. By that I mean, certainly at most Secondary schools they offer a wide range of clubs, (opportunity) but if you chose to attend one, you have to go (responsibility).
Anyway, no I am not scared, yes I am excited. Not a lot of point in being scared at the end of the day. It’s not that much different from moving from year 5 to year 6!
Have Fun!
