So, the end of my third week at secondary school. I know my way around, and have made some new friends . . . All in all I have been pretty successful.
I know which teachers are less strict. After a while you know which teachers are laid back (Certain teachers will shout if you don't tuck your top in and some won't) and which are more strict. As long as you behave and give in homework, you won't get a detention, or get shouted at. I know I can go to certain people or teachers with issues - which is most people! And I also know quick ways of getting out of school at the end of the day!
Some people are still getting lost - but I know that if you are then all you have to do is JUST ASK! To be honest, if you ask an older student they will help. You will recognise the older students because they are soooo much bigger!
A lot of teachers for the first week will let you off for being late, others, won't. After the first week you should DEFINITELY not be being late for class. That would just be being lazy and milking it a bit... so don't just think they will ALWAYS let you off... they won't. The homework does increase as the weeks go on.
It's been great making new friends but, the year 8's are a little weird! They take the mickey out of you and tease you a little but it is mostly meant in fun. I know that if it gets bad, all I have to do is go to a teacher and get it sorted. So, unless you are friends with ALL the year eights and sevens, then you are going to get teased a little. What I try to do is think of EXTREMELY witty come backs.
All in all I think I'm settling in well. I had to go back to school last night to help with the open evening. A stream of year 6s that are just like I was last year - nervous, excited and looking forward to secondary school!
Good Luck, Newbies!
