International Literacy Day
International Literacy Day was first announced by UNESCO on November 17, 1965. Each year Literacy Day has a theme aiming to highlight the importance of literacy to communities, individuals and societies in third world countries. This year International Literacy Day will be held on the 8th September and the theme is based on literacy and peace.
We are inviting children from across the globe to send a poem or short story (maximum 250 words), keeping the theme in mind, to mark the occasion. Ten children will be chosen to have their work featured on our Literacy Day dedication page and also will be awarded with a children's book title, courtesy of
Random House.
