The Time Of My Life
Megan Swindell (14)
Great days happen all the time,
From getting superb prezzies,
To going on holiday,
Or getting a new sister.
But for me I have great nights,
Where I travel the oceans,
Discover exotic foods,
Or become a great actress.
I be whatever I want,
A real circus acrobat,
Somebody who lives with crocs,
Or even a horse jockey.
Great days happen all the time,
But for me I have great nights,
I be whatever I want,
For dreams are what you make them. |
Britain’s Got Talent
Sophie Walker (12)
We had got through the auditions,
Now we were into the live semi-finals,
Everyone was excited but very nervous,
What would it be like?
We were backstage, ready and waiting,
Ant and Dec shouted, ‘The Boogie Babes,’
We were on live TV, the whole nation watching us,
We all danced our hearts out.
Once we had finished we waited for the results,
We hadn’t got any red crosses when we had danced,
We didn’t get through to the final,
But I still had, ‘The time of my life’. |

The Time Of My Life
Maddie Pownall (13)
Cup of cocoa is clasped in hand,
Not much for the week ahead planned,
Plate of biscuits - Costcutter’s own,
No stress, no hassle, family alone.
Chinese takeaway perched on knee,
Mum enjoying a nice cup of tea,
Dogs laid on back with feet in the air,
Sister laughing, curled up in armchair.
Smiling faces grin back at me,
All cosied up around the TV,
Flicking through channels, trying to find,
Something everybody won’t mind.
I know you raise your eyebrows,
Typical sisters, dogs and wife.
But right here, in this very room,
I’m truly having the time of my life. |
The Time Of My Life
Roberta Poli (12)
My holiday to Australia,
Oh my gosh!
It was amazing
And we got to splosh.
Kangaroos to koalas,
A variety of animals
And the corner shop sold lovely bananas.
Chance in a lifetime,
I couldn’t believe my eyes!
And Sydney Center Point,
That was a surprise.
It was inspiring,
I want to go again!
I’m sad that this poem
Has come to an end,
So goodbye everyone
That was my trip of a lifetime!
Please choose me
For your winner of all time. |

Seeing Her Again
Louisa Taylor (14)
We were so close, close like sisters,
When she moved away I missed her.
It was hard to go through the pain,
Wondering when I’d be seeing her again.
Christmas day 2007,
I opened the present, I was in Heaven.
I ignored the cold, I ignored the rain,
All I could think about was seeing her again.
The months went on, the time drew near,
I couldn’t believe it had been years.
I travelled home from school on the train,
Looking forward to seeing her again.
Finally, school was done,
Australia here I come!
I sat quietly on the plane,
So excited to be seeing her again.
Touchdown on Australian land,
Three weeks of fun and excitement was planned.
I saw my cousin, my mind went insane,
I couldn’t believe I was seeing her again. |
The Time Of My Life
Victoria Munro (14)
Holding my book in my hands
The two hundred pages or so
I felt the pride shine through my soul
I almost gave off a glow
I’ve done it
Achieved it
Lived to tell the tale
It was all I could do
To not jump, scream and yell
By the age of fourteen
My own book had been written
I don’t want to sound big headed
But I was very smitten
It took four months
To achieve this dream
But it didn’t take as long
As I thought it might have been
The characters emerged
Right out of my head
They jumped onto the paper
And I listened to what they said
Once the book was done
The last word
The last page
All my ideas
Had been released from the cage
They were down on paper
Woven into a story
That feeling I felt
Was pride and glory
Out of so many memories
I remember so well
The time of my life
Was when I finished my tale. |

The Time Of My Life
Carissa Lloyd (12)
Which could it be,
My favourite memory?
Our trip to the zoo?
A ride in a canoe?
Which could it be,
My favourite memory?
Skiing on snow?
Entering a talent show?
Which could it be,
My favourite memory?
Passing my computer test?
Going to laser quest?
Which could it be,
My favourite memory?
Riding a horse?
Completing a school course?
Which could it be,
My favourite memory?
Finishing a mission?
Winning a gymnastics competition! |
