Movie Magic

Valkerie
Sophie Walker (12)

A true story, a shocking story,
War and suffering in World War II,
How we did it, why we did it,
Millions of people died because of it.

It only takes one person to start a war,
But millions of people die because of it.

Heartbreak, tears and shock fill your heart,
As you watch the true story come to life again,
The memories in people’s minds, their family and their surroundings.

Valkerie, making World War II come alive,
It still shocks the world today.

Titanic
Elle Garland (13)

The love story spreads like an artist does with ‘his’ pencil,
Drawing someone special,
The ‘Heart of The Ocean’, lay upon her neckline.

The murky dark waters tremble,
The cold water splashes through the corridors,
Seeping through everything it touches.

Letting go of him,
He dropped into the darkness beneath her,
Lost. Left forever.

Someone who she desired,
Lay among the coral forever,
The heart will go on.

Just Watch The Avatar
Aoife Marrett (15)

I love the movie Avatar,
Not just for the stunning effects,
Or the fact that it borders on ‘slightly bizarre’.
It’s one of those movies where you don’t want to blink,
But the real reason I love it is because it makes me think,
OK, enough with the jokes - ‘Oh wow, you can think’, ha ha.
This here is serious, about us, about who we are,
The humans in the movie were so ruthless, so destructive,
Not caring about anything but the money in their pockets.
It’s only a movie, I think to myself,
But then I flash back through the past - our history of hell,
Not the best record I have to say.
Capturing Africans and making them slaves,
Forcing them onto boats, killing many on the way,
Forward a bit, now stop, Germany 1942.
Torturing, beating, murdering 6 million Jews,
Over to America in time for Ku Klux Klan,
Poisoning society as best as they can.
Alright, that was the past but what about now,
Surely we have learned to co-operate peacefully together,
Rubbish! We are still as bad as the humans in Avatar.
Burning down forests and pumping waste into lakes,
Killing in other countries, over pointless mistakes.
Why do we carry on fighting without understanding?
The warnings are there, just watch Avatar,
Before we take our destructive activity a little too far.
