Throughout your involvement with Young Writers you may come across terms that may be unfamiliar, or need further explaining. Here we have attempted to clarify the more common terms, but we are only a phone call away if you require further help!
How can I report problems with the website?
If you would like to report any problems or comment on our website please Click here to take you directly to the Online Form, fill in the form and we’ll do our best to sort the problem as quickly as we can. Who are Forward Press?
Forward Press Ltd is the parent company of Young Writers. All cheques should be made payable to Forward Press Ltd and credit cards will be debited by Forward Press Ltd. If this name appears on your statement it is for the Young Writers' books you have ordered. If you would like to know more about Forward Press visit: www.forwardpress.co.uk
How are my personal details used?
We will not pass on any of your details to third parties. From time to time we may send you details of Young Writers' competitions, products and services. To opt out please tick the box at the bottom of the checklist on the Copyright©/Permission form.
What is the Copyright©/Permission form for?
We need a parent/guardian’s permission to publish their child’s work, this can be given to us either by returning the Copyright/Permission form to us or by logging in to our online site. By giving permission to use the work you are allowing it to be published in the named anthology and copyright remains with the author.
What should I do with the typeset copy?
Please read through the typeset of the poem/story very carefully, and mark any corrections clearly. If possible, use red ink or any colour other than black. Please do not use correction fluid as the editing team needs to see what has been done incorrectly in order to give proper instructions to the typesetters. The typeset copy should be returned to us, with the Copyright©/Permission by the deadline date given in your letter. If you are using our online service there will be space provided for you to detail any changes you would like us to make. If you wish you can use the online service and mark your corrections to the typset and send that back to us.
What shall I do if there is an error in the name/address?
If we have made any errors in either the name or address, please let us know so that we can put it right. You can either mark these on the Copyright©/Permission form before you send it back to us, or you can make the changes online by logging in. If there is an error on your certificate, please mark the correction needed, return it to us and we'll send you a new certificate.
What can I do if I have missed the deadline date on the form?
Our editorial, typesetting, design and production teams all work to schedules which are dependent on each other, so it's important that we receive your permission before the deadline date. However if you do miss the deadline, please call us to see if there is still time to give your permission for the work to be published.
How do you decide on prices of the books?
Young Writers' anthologies are unique and personal titles that are produced to a high standard in small print runs. The price of each title reflects the overall quality of the product and the costs involved in producing them. By ordering books before they are published you are entitled to a pre-publication offer and by accepting orders early, we can budget our print runs and guarantee your order. Please note you will receive your order within 28 days of the publication date to the delivery address specified on your Copyright©/Permission form; ordering early doesn't mean you will receive your book(s) before the publication date. How do I place an order online?
If you would like to order a copy of the book online you can log into your account by clicking here. Once logged in you will be able to give your permission to publish your child’s work and order if you wish. You can pay by card, Pay Pal or online bank transfer. If you do not have your log in details please contact us for them. If the book you wish to order has been published please go to our bookshop.
Where will my order be delivered to?
Your books will be delivered to the school your child entered the competition through. Although we do not normally deliver books to home addresses in certain circumstances we can – this may be subject to a delivery charge. If your child entered independently then the books will be delivered to your home address.
When and how will my books be delivered?
Books are scheduled for final production in the month stated in your letter. If you have ordered books, they will be despatched to you shortly after the publication date. The school will receive a box containing all the orders which will be individually bagged addressed to the parent/guardian of the child.
When will the prize winners be announced?
Individual pupil prizes (where applicable) are awarded shortly after the final book in the series is published. Overall winning school prizes are awarded and announced on our website when available. Each competition offers different prizes to schools and pupils, full details of these can be found on the relevant competition page or are available on request.
Will the school know who has been accepted?
Schools are contacted with a list of selected pupils shortly after acceptance letters are sent to parents/guardians. Upon publication the school will receive a complimentary copy of the book featuring their pupils’ work.
Orders Received
If we receive an order from you for a book we will take this as permission to publish the work.
Customs Disclaimer
In some cases, customs charges may apply to packages being delivered to non EU countries. We do supply the relevant paperwork when shipping your order but parcels are being checked more frequently due to increased security. We cannot be liable for any additional customs charges made on your package as these charges are completely beyond our control.
